Since the rise of outsourcing companies, Virtual Assistants have helped a huge percentage of people, businesses and companies to achieve their personal and professional goals. Similarly, skilled VAs who have wanted to enjoy work-life balance realised opportunities through remote work while providing for their families in the comforts of their own homes.
This month, we are honoured to put into the spotlight one of our own VAs, Zeus Bryan Salcedo, who has achieved the Industry Service Award for the year 2022-2023. His outstanding work and dedication as an administrator paved the way for his recognition as an invaluable member of their team and Hippo since October 2019. Through the years, he has gained knowledge and experience from attending online workshops and training which enhanced his skills to perform better in his daily tasks.
His remarkable journey as a VA allowed us to get the opportunity to know Zeus better and how his skills and talent has made him achieve his goals.
Building a Strong Working Relationship
Most VAs are happy and enjoy working with their clients. When VAs and clients have gained mutual trust and understanding, then work could be easier like a hand fits a glove. But sometimes, unexpected difficulties come along the way. Zeus recalls, “When I started my job, I encountered challenges. But through training and consistent learning, I have found ways to make work enjoyable and fulfilling.”
For the past three years, Zeus has been helping his client do administrative tasks which includes daily tracking of timesheets, processing of payroll, onboarding new recruits and creating reports. Working alongside his client, he acknowledged his responsibilities by taking full ownership of the tasks he was meant to do. He took time to understand his client’s goals, preferences, and expectations.
Some of these daily activities may sound routinary and boring. But VAs can work around through these with ease, confidence and precision. When we asked him how he is able to give value to the service he renders to his client, he says “I make each and everyone’s workload manageable through constant communication and updates which makes everyone’s time efficient.”
Managing time is essential to every VA, and to every client. It is for this reason that Zeus’s client recognised him as a valuable member of their team as he was able to establish a seamless working relationship that proved instrumental in his success.
Dedication and Perseverance
VAs tasks could be different from one another. Some may be easy, while others see theirs as challenging. However, having the right attitude and mindset can turn any challenge into an opportunity for growth. VAs, most especially Filipino VAs are known for being hardworking people.
Since 2020, Zeus has been joining the Ironman races which has somehow reflected one his values – having self discipline. It takes a huge amount of effort to develop good habits and form discipline. As a VA, performing repetitive tasks on a daily basis also entails discipline.
Waking up early to do his job has a more meaningful reward, he says, “ I have been an enthusiast of triathlon and have been in training lately and getting ready for next year’s Ironman event.”
Zeus’s dedication and perseverance shone through, as he transformed seemingly routine assignments into opportunities for growth and excellence. He understood that being a virtual assistant entails going the extra mile to deliver exceptional results. Whether it was meeting tight deadlines, tackling complex projects, or taking on additional responsibilities, he consistently demonstrated his willingness to do whatever it took to ensure his client’s satisfaction.
Embracing Challenges
“Every man has 2 lives, and the 2nd starts, when he realizes that he only has just 1.” According to Zeus, this is his favourite quote. Simply put, it reminds each one of us to always do our best and strive to achieve our goals. VAs have the capacity to develop leadership skills that can help them accelerate their progress.
Regardless of any difficulty they might encounter along the way, they focus on proactively finding solutions. In the span of three years, Zeus has chosen to step up and used his inspiration to accomplish above and beyond what he was expected to. “My family inspires and motivates me to work hard and do things the best way I could,” he says. True enough, most VAs get support from family members. As a VA, it is necessary to set limitations when working. Nevertheless, VAs can still enjoy doing things as a family like having meals together on lunch breaks, taking trips on holidays and attending important family gatherings on special occasions.
Zeus Salcedo’s well-deserved recognition award is a testament to his unwavering dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence. Through a happy and genuinely good working relationship with his client, he built a foundation of trust and open communication that contributed to his success. His ability to rise above the mundane and embrace challenges with enthusiasm sets him apart as a Rockstar virtual assistant. His story serves as an inspiration to all virtual assistants, reminding us that dedication and a relentless pursuit of excellence can lead to remarkable achievements in our professional lives.
